Grading Policy (and Pinnacle categories): Your grade will be calculated using 3 categories:
Applies Problem Solving Strategies
|
Demonstrates Knowledge of Concepts (DKC)
|
In addition to the two HAC categories listed above, there will be a category titled “Meets Student Responsibilities”. This is a non-weighted category that will be used to communicate information. It may include pre-test scores, percent improvement on skills tests or other non-evaluative data points.
Late Policy: All work due in may be submitted until the end of each unit. Late work will be accepted but assignments due in the first half of the term will only be accepted for credit prior to midterm. Assignments due in the second half of the term will only be accepted for credit up a week before the end of terrm.

Gradebook:
- A 100 represents: you have demonstrated advanced mastery. You are able to apply your understanding of the concept to higher level questions. (You not only know what to do, and how to do it, but you are able to apply the concept at an advanced level--something you've never seen before.)
- A 92 represents: you have demonstrated mastery. You made one minor calculation or a prior knowledge error that does not relate to the standard being assessed.
- An 82 represents: you have demonstrated proficient understanding of the concept. The student’s process is correct, however there are minor conceptual error(s) related to the standard.
- A 72 represents: you have a basic understanding but I’m not fully convinced that you've mastered this concept. You have some misconceptions and/or has not shown the necessary work or process to show understanding. Maybe you left out some steps in the process, didn’t address all aspects of the problem, or your reasoning for the answer is unclear. You may have made several slight calculation mistakes which caused you to get the wrong answer at the end of the problem. (You know what to do, and how to do it, but you are making mistakes along the way, or you are not quite finishing the problem all of the way.)
- A 62 represents: you have a limited understanding, but you’re not quite there yet. You have some significant misconceptions about the concept or your work is too limited to show your level of understanding. (You know what to do, but you are struggling with how to do it.)
- A 52 represents: you demonstrated weak or no conceptual understanding of the concept. You may not know how to start the problems, or your idea of how to start shows major misconceptions. The problem could also be blank or a problem with only the answer given and no work or explanation. (You don't really know what to do, or how to do it.)
- A 50 represents no attempt to demonstrate mastery. You may have been absent or you have not put your name on your paper. Also you may have NO WORK SHOWN for any problem.
- These grades are revisable! Our goal is to have YOU fully understand and be able to apply each of the concepts!
